Dr Baraa Ruban graduated in 2009 and brings over 15 years of clinical experience across hospitals and medical specialties in both Iraq and Australia to his GP registrar training at Neal Street Medical Centre. That depth of experience across two very different healthcare systems gives him a clinical perspective and adaptability that genuinely sets him apart.
Baraa's clinical interests span chronic disease management, diabetes, mental health, men's health, children's health and travel medicine, and he is committed to staying at the forefront of medical knowledge to make sure his patients receive the best possible care.
Perhaps one of his most remarkable qualities is his ability to communicate with patients across five languages — English, Arabic, Chaldean, Assyrian and Kurdish. For patients from Middle Eastern and Assyrian communities who prefer to consult in their first language, Baraa is an exceptional choice and a genuinely valuable member of the Neal Street Medical Centre team.
Outside of work Baraa is a musician, playing both the saz and the oud, and also enjoys sport and reading.
Baraa works at the Gisborne clinic.
