Locally owned. Independently run.
Here for the long term.

Neal Street Medical Clinic has been looking after the Macedon Ranges community since 2015. Here is how we got here and what drives us every day.

Our story

Neal Street Medical Clinic opened its doors in Gisborne in 2015 with a straightforward idea. The Macedon Ranges deserved a GP clinic that was owned and run by local doctors, genuinely invested in the community they served, with no corporate involvement and no compromise on care.

Dr Umair Masood founded the practice with that vision, and it has shaped every decision made since. From the beginning, the goal was never simply to build a big clinic. It was to build the right one for the people who live here.

Growing with the community

What started as a single clinic in Gisborne has grown steadily alongside the community it serves. A second clinic opened in Woodend to extend that same standard of care to the western part of the Macedon Ranges, and the team has expanded to include over 50 doctors, nurses, allied health professionals and support staff across both locations.

Through all of that growth, one thing has never changed. Neal Street Medical Clinic remains owned and operated by the GPs who work here. The doctors who treat our patients own this practice. They live in this community, they know their patients by name and they have a genuine stake in getting things right.

What we believe

Independent ownership matters.

In an era where corporate medical groups are buying up GP practices across the country, staying independent is a deliberate choice. It means decisions about patient care are made by doctors, not shareholders. It means continuity of care is valued because it is the right thing to do, not because it is efficient. And it means the people running this clinic are the same people looking after your health.

Accessible healthcare for everyone.

We bulk bill most GP consultations because we believe good healthcare should be available to everyone in this community regardless of their financial situation. That has been our position since day one and it has not changed.

A teaching practice.

We are proud to be a teaching practice, training GP registrars and supervising medical students from Melbourne and Monash Universities at both clinics. Investing in the next generation of GPs is part of how we give back to the profession and to the community.

AGPAL accredited.

Neal Street Medical Centre is AGPAL accredited, reflecting our commitment to meeting the highest standards of general practice care. Accreditation is not something we do for a badge. It is a reflection of how seriously we take the quality of care we provide.

Gisborne — 5 Neal Street

Our founding clinic and home base. The Gisborne clinic is where it all started and remains the larger of our two sites. As well as our full GP team, Gisborne is home to our Skin Cancer Clinic with the Canfield IntelliStudio mole mapping system, Photodynamic Therapy services, aviation medicals and cosmetic medicine through Neal Street Skin Clinic on Level 2. The Gisborne Specialist Centre also operates from the upper level of the building, providing visiting specialist services across a wide range of medical and surgical disciplines.

Woodend — 65 High Street

Our Woodend clinic brings the same standard of care to the western Macedon Ranges, with a dedicated team of experienced GPs, nurses and support staff. Woodend is open Monday to Friday and offers the full range of GP services including skin checks, women's health, chronic disease management and more.

Both clinics offer online booking through our website and the HotDoc app, bulk billing for most consultations and free on-site parking.

Looking ahead

We are proud of what Neal Street Medical Clinic has become. But we are equally focused on what it can be. New services, new technology and new team members continue to strengthen what we offer, while the founding values that got us here remain exactly the same.

We are here for the long term. Just like the families we look after.

Ready to make us your regular clinic?

We are welcoming new patients at both Gisborne and Woodend.
