About the Gisborne Specialist Centre

The Gisborne Specialist Centre brings together a diverse team of visiting specialists across a wide range of medical and surgical disciplines. Specialists visit on a scheduled basis, and appointments can be made directly through the Gisborne Specialist Centre.

You will need a referral from your GP to see a specialist. If you think you need specialist input, book an appointment with your Neal Street GP and they will arrange the appropriate referral and make sure you are seen by the right person.

How We Help

  • To see a specialist at the Gisborne Specialist Centre, you will need a GP referral. Book an appointment with your Neal Street GP to discuss your concern and they will arrange the referral, write up the relevant clinical information and make sure you are sent to the right specialist for your situation.

  • Having your GP and specialist in the same building has real practical benefits. Your GP can communicate directly with your specialist, review the outcome of your specialist appointments and make sure your ongoing care is well coordinated. Nothing falls through the cracks.

  • After your specialist appointment, your GP can help you understand what was recommended, manage any ongoing treatment or medication and arrange further referrals if needed. Your GP remains your central point of contact throughout.
