Menopause Clinic

Practical, compassionate support for every stage of menopause.

Menopause is a natural part of life, but that does not mean it is always easy. Hot flushes, sleep problems, mood changes, brain fog, joint pain- the symptoms can be wide-ranging and genuinely disruptive. At Neal Street Medical Centre, our GPs take menopause seriously. We listen, we take the time to understand what you are experiencing, and we work with you to find an approach that helps you feel like yourself again.

What to Expect

Your first menopause appointment will be a proper conversation. This will start with a nurse who has done extra training in menopause. They will go through your history and take down key information. You will then see your GP, who will ask about your symptoms, how long you have been experiencing them, and how they are affecting your day to day life. They will also take into account your personal and family health history, as this can influence which treatment options are most suitable for you.

From there, your GP will talk you through the options available and give you the information you need to make a decision you feel comfortable with. There is no pressure to start any treatment straight away. This is about finding what works for you.

We recommend booking a longer appointment for your first menopause consultation so your GP has enough time to cover everything properly. Please mention it when you book and our team will make sure you are allocated the right amount of time.

How We Help

  • Menopause affects every woman differently, and there is no one-size-fits-all answer. Our GPs take the time to understand your full picture before recommending anything. That means talking through your symptoms, your health history, your lifestyle and what matters most to you.

  • Menopause hormone therapy, or MHT, is one of the most effective treatments available for menopause symptoms and has been shown to significantly improve quality of life for many women. Our GPs can talk you through whether MHT is appropriate for you, what the options are, and what the current evidence says so you can make an informed decision that feels right for you.

  • MHT is not the right choice for everyone. Our GPs are experienced in non-hormonal approaches to managing menopause symptoms, including lifestyle changes, dietary support and medications where appropriate. Whatever your circumstances, there are options worth exploring.

  • Menopause does not happen overnight. The years leading up to it, known as perimenopause, can bring their own set of symptoms and challenges. Our GPs can help you understand what is happening, what to expect and how to manage the transition well.

  • The hormonal changes that come with menopause can affect bone density and cardiovascular health over time. Our GPs factor this into your care and can recommend screening, lifestyle changes or treatment to protect your long-term health.

  • Menopause management is not a set and forget process. Our GPs provide ongoing support and regular reviews to make sure your treatment is working well and adjust things as needed over time.
